I am pleased to announce that on the 24/10/2020 Sickle Cell Awareness Project (SCAP) was launched. The turn up was very good and we worked under the government guidelines of Covid-19. We had individuals with sickle cell, relatives to people with sickle cell, individuals who have a trait and. The group was composed of mainly young people from the black African background. We invite people from black Caribbean and Asian backgrounds to reach out to us
The broadness of the group led to the theme of our pilot skint.
The pilot skint will focus on the experience of a sickle cell sufferer as compared to their counter parts who do not have sickle cell or might have any other disease/condition.
By the end of November 2020, we plan to have our pilot skint live on our social media platforms and we want to use it to guide our journey while putting this project together.
Please do not forget the aim for SCAP is to reach as many people as we can to know about sickle cell so they can be more empathetic in the healthcare service, employment and education while working with people that have sickle cell.
